A.R. Crawford Dies in Amherst Community

A.R. Crawford, a well known resident of Lamar County, died last Monday night northeast of Paris near Amherst at the home of his son-in-law, Stone Bryson. He was afflicted with cancer of the stomach and had been confined to bed since last March. He was born in Limestone County, Alabama, and was sixty-eight years of age.

He came to Texas twenty-eight years ago and located in this county. He resided most of the time in the Biardstown community. His wife died three years ago. He is survived by two sons and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. J. M. Pinson of East Paris, Mrs. Zella Bryson of Amherst, with whom he was making his home, and Mrs. Cassie Hines of Durant, Ok. The sons are J. D. Crawford, who is in the employ of the Paris Transit Company, and J. E. Crawford of Merit. All of the children were with him when he died.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Union Grove cemetery, five miles east of town on Lamar Avenue, and was conducted by [page smeared] of the Church of Christ."
